What lurks behind your radiators?
Coverad have been manufacturing and installing radiator covers for nearly 15 years and has built up a reputation for quality, value for money, and excellent customer service. We have carried out a number of special cleaning projects over those years and have recently been asked by a number of customers to do this on a planned basis.
The situation we have been faced with on every occasion was that the visible areas within the Hospitals, Care and Nursing homes had been subjected to domestic cleaning, whereas the hidden areas such as covered radiators had not been subjected to any form of cleaning for years and the baked on dirt, dust and spillages had accumulated over this time creating a breeding ground for germs and bacteria which has been impossible to clean effectively without specialised steam cleaning and sanitisation equipment.
Following discussions with a large, well respected teaching hospital trust, we developed a procedure for carrying out this work. This procedure was created with the help of the Domestic Services Department, the Control of infection team, and the Estates department of the hospital. This technique has been proved in a number of high profile cases and now forms the standard procedure used by our dedicated cleaning teams and as expected is proving to be very successful, with minimum disruption to the hospital staff and patients.
The experience gained has now enabled us to offer this service to other NHS Trusts, Care and Nursing Homes and Schools, where cleanliness is a high priority. The service includes for the removal of the cover, the steam cleaning and sanitisation of the cover and associated radiator or heater element, and replacement of the cover.
It also provides a detailed recorded survey of the cover and radiator condition, and the condition of the fixings attached.
Every Cover and radiator cleaned by this method is clearly labelled indicating the date cleaned.
We are of course able to deal with any type of cover and wet central heating radiator.
